Nancy O'Dell's career in broadcasting began as an anchor and journalist for WPDE-TV Myrtle beach, South Carolina. Then, she joined WCBD as anchor for the morning show and as a crime reporter. The articles written by O'Dell in Charleston on how Charleston police acted in DUI cases in a manner that was lenient, led to an inquiry by State Law Enforcement Division. This investigation led to a more strict instruction for the state's authorities. Ms. O'Dell was awarded her Best Report of the Award from the Associated Press for South Carolina's media.
